Lyle Lyle Crocodile

Hey kids, ever heard of a singing crocodile. Even I did not, unless I came across Lyle on Netflix. Hector, the show man picked the singing baby crocodile from a pet shop and named him Lyle, in the movie Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile on Netflix.

Hector was in quest for something new. So when he discovered the singing crocodile, he brought it home and tutored him to perfection. However, Lyle, too terrified at the sight of the huge audience, failed to sing in the Show.

 Hector was a , kind, jovial spirit . Although Hector felt dispirited, he did not take it to the heart. He bade adieu to Lyle, left Lyle in the house where Hector lived, and set off to try his luck elsewhere, for he was in need of money.

Then, there came the Primm family , the new occupants of Hector's house. The Primm's were a lovely family . Josh Primm was about 12 years old. His mother, katie Primm though a step mom, was nothing short of a loving and caring biological mother. She however was very fussy about disciplining the family into eating healthy. His father , Joseph, a friendly young man, was into the teaching profession.

Beneath their floor lived Mr Grumps, a name befitting his manner - rude, irritable, complaining . He had a fluffy cat named Loretta- a cat, which though had a 'delicate constitution', ( which was the reason behind all the trouble in the film) so unlike him. He was very possessive and protective about his cat. 

 Josh disliked the crowded city of New York, and was also having adjusting with peers . Trudy was his only friend at the school.

Meanwhile, Lyle, now bigger, had been living in the house all these 18 months gleefully on his own - singing , dancing , bathing. It was fun to see a crocodile 🐊 in the bathtub in foam.

The discovery of the crocodile Lyle in the attic one by one by Josh - Loretta duo; katie and Joseph is highly comical. Lyle was disapproved of by Josh's mother and father both. But Lyle, with his keen understanding of psychology, observation and goodness, in no time wins them over. He becomes an inseparable part of the family.

It is during this phase that Hector returns home. Both Hector and Lyle are elated on meeting one another though Lyle initially pretended that he was offended since he had so long been forgotten . 

The movie now goes through trails of incidents where Mr Grumps gets Lyle taken away by the zoo authority ; Hector and Josh execute Lyle's escape from the zoo; Lyle ultimately overcomes his stage fright and performs in the talent show' Show Us What You Got', becoming famous overnight. 

Finally, after it was settled by the court that Lyle could stay with the family, the Primms planned to go on a vacation with Lyle. Hector however wished that Lyle and he together make money and become rich by using Lyle 's unusual skill .

Josh argued that becoming rich was not what Lyle wanted. Lyle wanted to have a family instead. The good natured Hector as usual did not protest.

On the contrary, Hector's eyes glowed with renewed hope when Trudy brought him her pet rattlesnake which could hiss musically.

 Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a very sweet musical movie. It is delightful , comic at times. There was a scene where the cat jumped into the mouth of the crocodile. One cannot help but roar with laughter at the sight of the boy running after Lyle in order to get back Loretta.

Hector whom Joseph ruefully calls David Copperfield really appears to be a comic character from the novel of Alexander Dumas . 

What a darling Katie became after Lyle changed her perspective of life. Lyle's dance with Katie was so endearing. The fun the 3 had - Josh, Loretta and Lyle- on the roof must be the dream of every child. Loretta's loyalty towards Lyle is also so touching.

There is something sweeping about the songs. They are so rhythmic and so vibrant. Lyle's tone was the sweetest.
