Winter Retreat With Movies
Winter has set in with all its beauty. The sun is warm. Adieu to surly days . Mango trees bloom with flowers promising a sumptuous feast for our taste buds in the coming season .The temperature has dipped and the met office has predicted more. The lucky ones enjoy a short retreat to the hills or on swarming sea beaches , and for us who have spent all their leave and cannot afford to expend any more of their leave, need not feel disdain. You can lose yourself to your childhood days or you may give indulgence to the child in you by sinking into your cosy chair and catching movies on your television sets . Here are a few which might uplift your Christmas Spirit
* The boy called Christmas - Everyday life is drab . The movie starts with a quest for hope, since hope brings with it happiness. A kind little boy called Nicholas, whose heart is as big as his nickname , Christmas, brings in Hope from the land of elves, Elfhelm , into the world of humans. This Hope and happiness keep us going throughout the year. This film , though metaphorical , has everything from pixies, elves, Mother Vodol with her magical power to reindeer, sledge, enchanting snowy stretches of wilderness in Finland, making the film enjoyable even for the child audience.
* The best Christmas pageant ever- it is a touching movie on how the story of the life of Mother Mary and Jesus, conjugated with the Bradley's goodness and kindness as if cast a spell on the Herdmans siblings, transforming them from freaking nuisances to less difficult kids and later to worthy men and women of the society . The magic of the film is that the film might sometimes seem quite slow and boring, however, one would not know when one has been unconsciously drawn into the film such that it has a lingering effect on you even long after the movie has ended.
*The night my father saved Christmas 2- It is a humorous movie . Our hero ! Our darling- jolly , witty , generous , compassionate Santa Claus , the great grandfather figure whose charm can make even a disagreeing child eat broccoli which he finds so distasteful , is kidnapped and ultimately rescued before Christmas The master mind behind this kidnap was a toy company, since their toys sold less during Christmas as Santa gave away toys freely to children during Christmas. The adventure inside the toy shop is hilarious .The visuals are lovely and heart warming . Children would be overjoyed when they see the elves , especially Rami , Santa's workshop and how busily elves work there at to make gifts only to see a smile on a child 's face. There is nothing spiteful about the movie. Even the antagonists are not hateful. They are rather comical and delightful.
* You might even catch RED ONE, released last November, which has a similar theme as ' The night my father saved Christmas 2 '
* Christmas on mistletoe farm- In the movie you get to see a pleasant country side with a wide expanse of farmland; herd of meek and tame farm animals, an ancestral cottage ; educated, sober , refined , sweet, friendly, helpful village people - just the right choice for the Londoner kids to spend Christmas. The movie takes us away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and serves as a refreshing and warm retreat for our tired mind . What I love about the film is its simplicity. The film fosters human bonding with nature , and particularly with the animal world.
* My secret Santa - Although this is a romantic comedy I would like to put it on the chart just to show how parents are the real Santa Claus we have around ourselves everyday . They will simply do anything and everything to fulfil our desire and aspiration , even at the cost of their own dreams. Our priority is always at the top of their list.
Hope you enjoy the above movies and many more Christmas movies. Happy Christmas and Happy New Year.
